Bangladesh ready for first practice match

Mokpo: The Bangladesh national team is ready to play the first practice match of the South Korea tour tomorrow.

The match against K-League 2 side Gwangju Football Club will kick-off at 1:30pm (BDST) at the Mokpo International Training Centre Football Ground.

Head coach Jamie Day seeks to use this opportunity to test his players against the Korean team after a 1-1 draw with a Qatari club a few days back.

“We have been working hard the last few days on the boys fitness so it will be interesting to see how that is against a K-League side who are involved in there season already,” said Jamie.

Jamie also hinted that all of the players of the squad will get a chance to show their improvement in the first of three practice matches.

“All the players will play a part in tomorrow’s game with the Asian Games squad taking more game time in the last 2 matches,” said the British coach.

Shedding some light on the opponents, Jamie said, “We have watched them train tonight and the level they play at, here in Korea. It will be a very tough game. They are a very good opposition.”

The head coach hopes to see improvement from his players. “I am hoping we look sharper and fitter than the last time we played. We will continue to work in shape defensively and in attack.”

Jamie Day also opined that it is difficult to tell the improvement of the players physically from the previous training camp. “I think we cannot compare our strength and stamina at the moment. Once the match is played, then well figure out the areas we have improved in and the areas that need working on.”

The Briton, however, stated that he is not preoccupied with what the result might turn out to be.

“I’m not concerned with the result at the moment. I know it’s going to be a really tough match and so what will be pleasing for me is if our shape and fitness show signs of improvement from the last game,” concluded Jamie.
